In Vermont, every residential lease is governed by comprehensive and somewhat complicated state and municipal laws. Some of those laws are mandatory, and no lease may vary those. Others may be modified if the parties agree. I'll help you figure that out. I'll try to dissuade you from entering unwritten leases. They're enforceable but, if disputes ensue, hard to prove. A written lease confirms expectations are shared and, as a consequence, if they're later disputed, can be enforced.
